With more than 30 years of experience across senior leadership, corporate strategy, and technology transformation, Eichiro Alanzo Doll stands among the most accomplished figures in Sri Lanka’s IT industry. As Chief Technology Officer at Engenuity AI Ltd, he has played a pivotal role in shaping how artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital innovation create real business value.

His career journey has included leadership roles at Microsoft, IBM, AIA Insurance, EZY Group of Companies, and other prominent organizations. In addition to his corporate achievements, Alanzo serves as Board Director of the Pership Group, Co founder of Triune Consulting International Ltd, and is the Immediate Past Chairman of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka Section. He also serves on the ICT Industry Consultative Committee under the Ministry of Digital Economy and contributes as a Head Judge at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards and the National ICT Awards.

A Chartered IT Professional of BCS (UK) and a Certified Management Accountant of CMA (Australia), Alanzo also holds a Master of Business Administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK) and a degree in Computer Science from the University of Sunderland (UK). With his depth of expertise and passion for mentorship, he continues to influence how technology and leadership intersect to shape the digital future.

People at the Heart of Digital Transformation

For Alanzo, the core of every digital transformation lies not in technology but in people. “Technology may enable change, but it’s people who drive it, adopt it, and ultimately determine its impact,” he says. His extensive experience across industries has reinforced this belief. The most successful transformations, in his view, are those where leadership invests as much in culture, communication, and skill development as they do in technology.

At Engenuity AI, this philosophy guides every project. The company may deliver advanced AI solutions, but its real success is measured by how those solutions empower employees and clients to work smarter, not harder. For Alanzo, human insight, collaboration, and adaptability remain irreplaceable even in an era defined by automation.

As a company that builds AI solutions for global clients, Engenuity AI also practices what it preaches. “We incorporate AI within our own workplace,” Alanzo explains. His teams collaborate directly with employees across departments to identify challenges, test ideas, and co create tools that genuinely improve day to day work.

End users are involved early in the development process, ensuring their feedback shapes the final solution. “If a product doesn’t make someone’s workday easier, it’s not something we want to deploy,” he adds. This approach ensures that innovation serves people, rather than overwhelming them. By keeping human experience at the center, Alanzo and his teams have built technology that enhances efficiency while preserving empathy and trust.

The Power of Partnership Between HR and IT

Alanzo believes the future belongs to organizations where human resources and technology leaders work in harmony. “HR brings deep insight into workforce behavior and culture, while IT provides the tools to act on that insight at scale,” he notes.

He points to hybrid work models, digital learning ecosystems, and data-driven HR analytics as key areas where HR and IT must collaborate. The most adaptive organizations, he says, are those where HR defines the “why” and IT delivers the “how.” This partnership not only improves operations but also strengthens culture and engagement, turning technology into a catalyst for organizational resilience.

“The workplace of the future isn’t just powered by technology. It is grounded in people and HR will be at the heart of that evolution.

When it comes to building and leading high performing teams, Alanzo prioritizes curiosity, creativity, and emotional intelligence. In an industry where change is constant, he values individuals who can think innovatively, adapt quickly, and collaborate effectively.

“The pace of change in technology is relentless,” he explains. “We look for people who are naturally curious and comfortable navigating ambiguity.” Emotional intelligence, in his view, is as important as technical expertise. The ability to listen, give feedback, and build trust within a team determines long term success far more than any single skill.

Under his leadership, Engenuity AI cultivates an environment where ideas are valued, collaboration is encouraged, and learning never stops. This culture of openness and curiosity has been key to sustaining innovation.

Creating Engagement During Change

Change, Alanzo notes, is not a project but a process. “Change management isn’t a checklist; it’s an ongoing conversation,” he says. Transparency, early involvement, and regular communication are central to his leadership approach.

He fosters engagement through one on one discussions, feedback sessions, and even creative gatherings such as theme nights where employees share insights and innovations over informal settings. These initiatives build ownership and shared purpose across teams.

Equally important is celebrating small wins along the way. By embracing a “fail fast, learn faster” culture, Alanzo encourages experimentation and continuous improvement. For him, technology should never be seen as a disruptor but as a tool that empowers people to perform at their best.

Balancing Performance and Humanity

As a senior leader, Alanzo understands that high performance and humanity are not opposites, they reinforce each other. He believes effective leadership is about more than delivering results; it is about developing people.

He practices active leadership by holding regular check ins that go beyond project updates to discuss aspirations, challenges, and growth. “Creating balance requires presence and thoughtful prioritization,” he says. By valuing both personal identity and professional contribution, Alanzo ensures that people feel seen, heard, and supported.

His leadership philosophy emphasizes empathy and authenticity as essential qualities for building long term trust. In his words, “Technology can change how we work, but empathy determines how well we work together.”

Looking ahead, Alanzo envisions HR as one of the most strategic functions in the digital age. As automation and AI continue to evolve, HR will be central in redefining skill sets, designing learning journeys, and fostering inclusive cultures.

He sees HR not just as an administrative function but as the conscience of digital transformation ensuring technology is implemented ethically and with respect for human dignity. “The workplace of the future isn’t only powered by technology; it’s grounded in people,” he emphasizes. For Alanzo, the true measure of progress lies in how technology enhances, rather than replaces, the human experience.

A Legacy of Leadership and Impact

Eichiro Alanzo Doll’s career is a masterclass in leadership that blends innovation with empathy. From his early roles at IBM and Microsoft to his current leadership at Engenuity AI, he has consistently championed technology that elevates people and performance. His contributions extend beyond his company, influencing national and regional technology initiatives, mentoring future leaders, and shaping the ethical direction of the ICT industry.

Through his work, Alanzo reminds us that even in a world driven by artificial intelligence, human intelligence remains the most powerful force of all. His journey stands as an inspiration to professionals everywhere, a testament that technology, when guided by humanity and vision, can create a better, more connected future for all.
